The eighth generation Skyline R32 fell into the category of small-size cars except “GT-R” for touring car races. But the ninth generation Skyline R33 rolled out in 1993 was categorized as ordinary passenger car since the body was enlarged to represent “Mainstream grand touring car for outstanding driving pleasure”.
The new Skyline GT-R was exhibited as reference at Tokyo Motor Show in 1993 and released in 1995. This is a factory test car with the chassis No.000055. It was equipped with aluminum roll-over bar for time trial at Nürburgring, Germany. Its record was 7'59"887 which was faster than that of R32 by 21 sec. The copy “Fascinated by minus 21 sec.” is still talked about. |
