The "Show or Display" rule is a statutory amendment to the United States Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) that allows certain privately imported automobiles to be exempted, if the vehicle in question is deemed to meet a standard of "historical or technological significance. There are four types of R34 GT-R which are currently eligible for import: R34 GT-R V-Spec in LV4 Midnight Purple II - there are 282 known Midnight Purple II V-Spec produced by Nissan. R34 GT-R M-Spec Nür - there are 285 M-Spec Nür in all colours produced by Nissan. R34 GT-R V-Spec N1 - there are 38 known. R34 GT-R V-Spec II N1 - there was 18 produced.
No other R34 GT-R is eligible for importation under the "Show or Display" rule. LX0 Midnight Purple III IS NOT eligible under Show or Display!!! Vehicles are limited to 2500 miles per year. The NHTSA reserves the right to verify mileage. Vehicles less than 21 years of age MUST also meet import restrictions defined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Once a vehicle turns 25 years old, it is no longer considered under the Show or Display ruling and can then be driven an unlimited number of miles. This is not a complete list! It shows the first, third and any other community additions that have been legally imported Show or Display cars that also meet EPA regulations. |
