Charity Auction of 2014 GT-R on November 22nd to Benefit Usain Bolt Foundation

Our friends at Nissan are presenting a very special charity auction starting November 22nd, with a very special car carefully co-prepared with their new honorary “Director of Excitement”–legendary Olympic champion and all-time great sprinter Usain Bolt. Proceeds from the charity auction of the Bolt-edition 2014 Nissan GT-R will go to aid the Usain Bolt Foundation, which seeks to create educational and cultural opportunities for children and young people in Bolt’s native Jamaica.

eBay is the place that auto builders go to for charity auctions such as these, because they believe this is the best place to not only promote their brands but because of the unbelievably giving nature of the eBay community. The generosity of the eBay bidding public is about to meet the enthusiasm of the eBay Motors followers when the charity auction for this unique GT-R begins. This 2014 GT-R has an appropriate gold finish with Bolt’s signature embossed in it along with real gold accents throughout the interior. With an expert on speed working with it, Nissan is taking full advantage, having already flown Bolt to its testing grounds in Japan, where the company put him in GT-Rs to measure his reaction times, acceleration, and handling abilities in the car. These measurements will be used to develop a special limited-run edition of the GT-R to be released in the future.

Where else but eBay Motors could you find a charity auction for a more exciting one-of-a-kind car, and with the money raised going to a good cause on top of that? Nowhere, and that’s why automotive brands come to us for events like these. We can’t wait to see where the final price ends up after this one-off 2014 Nissan GT-R goes live November 22nd. A fast car honoring the fastest man alive is sure to attract a lot of attention; keep an eye on eBay to see what happens!

        Article

The Melbourne man who won an ultra-rare Nissan GT-R in an international auction late last year has just taken delivery of his Usain Bolt-inspired supercar.

Nissan handed over the keys to winning bidder Rod Maher, who parted with a little over $187,000 for the gold-painted GT-R, which is one of only two in the world – the other belonging to six-time Olympic champion sprinter and Nissan’s honorary ‘director of excitement’, Usain Bolt.

Along with its exclusive gold finish, the two-of-a-kind Nissan GT-R features 10-spoke aluminium-alloy RAYS forged wheels, a Bose audio system, as well as bespoke interior fittings finished in real gold and Bolt’s signature on the glovebox.

Maher says he never expected to win the auction when lodging his bid but is delighted with the newest addition to his garage.

“I want to take good care of it but I do like my country trips and I’d really like to take it our around Victoria,” Maher said.

“My girlfriend’s in Perth and I spend half my time over there, so I’m contemplating doing a trip across the Nullarbor, and this would be the car to do it in I think.

“[The money is] going to a good cause over in Jamaica, so really happy that kids are going to be helped out through it.”

All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Usain Bolt Foundation, which works to create educational and cultural opportunities for children and young people in Jamaica.

Bolt said the money raised would have a tremendous impact on the people supported by his charity.

“My partnership with Nissan greatly benefits the work of my foundation,” he said.

“This donation will help many kids get access to better facilities, play areas and educational materials in Jamaica.

“I am delighted to be working with Nissan to do this.”

Maher’s special edition GT-R cost only a few thousand dollars more than the standard Japanese supercar, which is priced from $170,800.
